This six day excursion into Cambodia invites you to explore the charms of the capital Phnom Penh and the magnificent ancient ruins of Angkor. Phnom Penh was a bustling commercial hub during French colonial times. Its rich historical past can be traced to the Khmer and French influence evident in the ornate Khmer-style temples and the grand colonial buildings and villas. The Angkor temple complex is comprised of countless ceremonial structures built between the 9th and 13th centuries by the once mighty Khmer Empire. Highlights include the enigmatic smiling faces of the Bayon and the vast walled citadel of Angkor Thom. The centerpiece though is Angkor Wat, the world’s largest ceremonial structure with its dazzling array of beautiful bas-reliefs and ornate carvings.

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival transfer to your Hotel; Free at leisure.

Day 2: Phnom Penh – City Tour
Morning visit to National Museum, Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda Afternoon Touesleng Museum and the Wat Phnom. Also we’ll have time to visit Russian Market. (B)

Day 3: To Siem Reap
We’ll take a short morning flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, we are met and transferred to your hotel; afternoon we will visit the oldest Rolous group of temples - Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei temples. (B)

Day 4: Siem Reap
Rise up early in the morning for a wonderful sunrise at Angkor Wat. In the morning, we will explore Angkor Thom, the site of the ancient capital of the Khmer period. Visit the South Gate, Bayon, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of Leper King. Then, we will visit Ta Prohm, which many consider to be the most charming of all the temples. We’ll spend the full afternoon exploring the main Angkor Wat Temple. (B, L)

Day 5: Siem Reap
This morning, we’ll take a boat trip on the Tonle Sap Lake to see the ancient and interesting way of life on the water. You then will have a chance to do some shopping in the Old Market. In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a drive for about 45 minutes through lovely countryside to visit Bantaey Srei and Bantaey Kdei, which many consider Bantaey Srei to be the prettiest temple. We’ll enjoy a stunning sunset over Pre Rup temple. (B, L)

Day 6: Departure
You are free to explore the town until your transfer to the airport. (B)

Joining instructions
As you pass through immigration and customs at Phnom Penh airport you will be met by our guide and driver and transferred to your hotel.

What to take
We suggest you keep your luggage weight down to a maximum of 15 kg with a reasonable daypack for the day tours. We also recommend sandals or sports shoes for walking in the temples.

Fitness Requirements
There are no specific fitness requirements for this trip, although please note that the Vietnamese climate is probably hotter and more humid than you would otherwise be used to.
