Departing in the morning, make your way to Pak Tai Temple, a 2000-year old temple dedicated to the Taoist God of the Sea, Pak Tai. Take a stroll around this cultural gem, resembling traditional Chinese architecture and festooned with ceramic figurines, murals and stone lions. Find exquisite specimens of ancient gold-plated woodcraft from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the iron swords of the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

Later, head to beautiful Tung Wha Beach, a renowned windsurfing and canoeing destination characterised by its turquoise waters and white sands. From there, check out the 3000-yer old bronze-age “Reclining Rock” formations dotting the beach among trunks of wild cacti.

Afterwards, board a wooden sampan boat for a visit to a local typhoon shelter built to protect traditional fishing villages from extreme weather. Witness centuries-old fishing traditions and learn about the local culture as you explore the old fishing communities in West Bay. From here, head to Cheung Po Tsai Cave, named after the notorious pirate Cheung Po Tsai, believed to have commanded a fleet of 600 ships during the 18th century. Grab a torch and explore the cave’s winding passages once used by this famous buccaneer to hide from his enemies.

Later, settle down for a delicious Chinese Dim Sum Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon head to the Tin Hau Temple, dating back to the 17th century and now frequented by pilgrims and fishing folk seeking good fortune.
