Continue upstream along the forest lined river, passing rustic villages and cattle grazing in the shallows.

Spend the afternoon relaxing with a drink on deck before paddling in a canoe through the shimmering black lakes. Keep an eye out for the elusive proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and Brahmini kites as you float past patches of dense jungle.

In the evening, return to the boat for a quiet dinner as you float anchored in the middle of the Indonesian jungle.

After breakfast, take in the stunning scenery as the boat continues up the Rungan River to Bapallas Island. Here, take a motorised canoe to secluded patches of jungle to get up close with local orang utans in their natural habitat.

Afterwards, head back to the boat for a leisurely lunch on-board as you cruise towards Kanarakan, a tiny riverside village on the Rungan River. Arriving in the afternoon, witness a sacred Dayak Ngaju welcoming ceremony  led by the village elder, before taking a guided stroll around the village. Visit local houses and gardens before heading out to the rubber fields for a rubber tapping demonstration.Finish the tour with a visit to the elder’s house for a cup of traditional spiced coffee and hear his fascinating stories of local life.

In the afternoon, head back to the boat for a cruise down to Lake Tahai. Spend the night in Lake Tahai.

At dawn, have the option to enjoy some canoeing on the lake and some early-morning bird watching. Afterwards, head back to the boat to enjoy a hearty breakfast.

Then, pay a visit to the village of Sei Gohong and meet with local experts of traditional medicine. Then, embark on a short walk through the nearby forest to find the exotic plants and seeds that are still used today by the Ngajus people for traditional remedies.

In the afternoon, head back to the village to see a large collection of exotic traditional medicines and find out their weird and whacky uses. Afterwards, head back to the boat and cruise downstream to Muara Rungan where we will drop anchor for the night.

After breakfast, make your way to Bukit Rawi on the Kahayan River. On arrival, witness youth musicians and dancers perform a traditional welcome dance before visiting the lady rattan weavers to see how thorny rattan vines are turned into beautifully woven bags and other handicrafts.

Afterwards, head to Tuwung Village to see beautifully carved and painted sandungs (bone houses) and immerse yourself in the fascinating stories of the Dayak Ngaju burial rituals. In the evening, head back to the boat and cruise downstream to Muara Rungan.

Begin an early morning cruise to Palangkaraya whilst enjoying breakfast on-board. From here, meet with our friendly driver and make your way to the airport for your return flight home.
