ITINERARY BY DAY

Day 1: Luang Prabang
You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive activities can be arranged for the rest of the day. Nestled in a stunning setting amid forested mountains, this sacred city of golden temples and saffron robed monks provides endless opportunities for sightseeing. In the evening, enjoy a special Baci ceremony before dinner.

Day 2: Luang Prabang Cooking Class
This morning you will learn the secrets of Lao cuisine. Begin by visiting the colourful and vibrant Phou Si Market with an expert chef, who will help you to select the ingredients you need for the lesson. Then, collect fresh herbs from an exotic jungle garden. The chef will explain the differences between the various cuisines of Southeast Asia and distribute printed recipes so you can impress your friends at home. After the class, enjoy the delicious feast you have prepared.

Day 3: Luang Prabang - Silk Dyeing Class
A visit to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center will give you an insight into the daily lives of the ethnic minorities in Northern Laos. After your visit, take a trip to a local weaving centre where you can experience a half-day traditional silk-dyeing lesson. Make your own souvenir hand-dyed silk scarf as a memento. After the lesson, you can enjoy a drink while watching the sun set over the Mekong.

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Cycling and Trekking – Ban Long Lao
Today, you will cycle south of Luang Prabang for approximately 20 kilometres to Ban Thin Som. There, you will begin a trek through the stunning countryside to visit a Kamu village. After lunch, hike through the mountains where you are sure to enjoy the spectacular views. At Ban Long Lao, gain an insight into everyday life in the village. This evening enjoy a traditional Hmong dance and dinner at the head man’s house.

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Waterfall Trek
Breakfast will be served at the headman’s house, after which you have some free time to explore the village. Later in the morning begin trekking through a valley which contains a forest preserve. Hike for approximately three hours before arriving at Kuang Si waterfalls. The falls cascade over many calcified tiers and down several hundred feet into a series of cool, turquoise pools. The water here has a clear blue-green tint due to the high mineral content. Enjoy swimming if you wish. After lunch in front of the falls, you may wish to visit the nearby bear rescue centre. In the late afternoon drive back to Luang Prabang.
