Bridge over the River Kwai Adventure

Day 1: Arrive Bangkok
Arrive at Bangkok Airport and transfer to the hotel.
 
In the afternoon, visit the Grand Palace, Chakri Maha Prasad, which is one of the most beautiful samples of an ancient Thai court and was the former residence for the Thai kings.  Here one can easily visualize the splendor and pageantry of the past.  Walk to the nearby Wat Po, home of the enormous Reclining Buddha and one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok.  Here the Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Bangkok have their headquarters and Traditional Thai Massage is taught and practiced here.  Complete the tour with traveling by motor launch on the picturesque Chao Phya River and klongs (canals) to observe the serene family homes and temples along the waterways, which gave this city the name “ Venice of the East “.
 
Day 2: Bangkok - River Kwai
After breakfast drive (approx. 1 hour) to Ayuthaya, the former capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767. The city was almost completely destroyed after an invasion by the Burmese in 1767, and today only the remains of the once so impressive temples and palaces remind us of the glorious past of this city.  After visits to some interesting temples and lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Kanchanaburi town on the banks of the River Kwai. It has become famous by the construction of the well known “River Kwai Bridge” during World War II.  Visit to the cemetery of the numerous victims of the Allied Forces and take a photo with the historical Bridge.  Continue driving to the hotel for check-in.

Day 4: River Kwai - Bangkok
Transfer to Bangkok.
