Day 1: Phnom Penh
Upon your arrival you are met and transferred to hotel, before visiting the Royal Palace.
Day 2: Phnom Penh - Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary
You are transferred to the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary, located about 40km south of Phnom Penh. The Free the Bears organization operates within the sanctuary. Free the Bears is an Australia NGO that rescues Moon and Sun Bears and provides them with a safe environment.
Day 3: Phnom Penh – Silk Weaving Island - Siem Reap
Take a half day trip to the Mekong Island by boat, renowned for its silk weaving. Return to Phnom Penh before transferring to the airport for the short flight to Siem Reap. On arrival, you are transferred to your hotel.
Day 4: Siem Reap – Angkor Complex
Drive into the temple complex and take a short balloon ride (tethered balloon) to view the vast Angkor Complex from the air. Then the exploration of the vast complex begins with a visit to Angkor Wat Temple. Continue to the atmospheric jungle temple of Ta Prohm, synonymous with the film Tomb Raider. In the afternoon return to your hotel, to wind down and escape the midday heat.
Day 5: Siem Reap – Angkor Thom Complex
This morning, return to the temple complex to experience an elephant ride before discovering the temples of the Angkor Thom Complex. These remarkable temples and complexes offer a startling insight into the beauty and power of the Angkorian era. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 6: Siem Reap – Kulen Mountain
Drive to Kulen Mountain 50 kms from Siem Reap. Ascend to the hilltop summit to visit the Reclining Buddha before following the River of a 1000 Lingas and walk back down the hill and enjoy a picnic lunch near the waterfall. Spend time swimming and exploring the enchanting jungle surroundings.
Day 7: Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake
Transfer by tuk tuk to visit Tonle Sap Lake - the largest in South East Asia. Take a boat trip to the floating villages with fishing for the kids, before a walking tour of the fascinating pagodas and settlements that surround the lake. Return to your hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure.
Day 8: Siem Reap – Local Community Village Homestay
Drive to a village and stay overnight within a local community who are benefiting from small numbers of tourists who visit their village and experience traditional local life. Funds from your tour go directly to the families providing the services, as well as a portion which is donated to the community fund.
Upon arrival at the village you will be introduced to some of the key community members and given an introduction to the community project. Activities include walking through the nearby conservation forest, participating in the cooking of the lunch, dinner and breakfast, local handicrafts or being involved in the daily farming or harvesting activities depending on the season.
Day 9: Local Homestay – Departure
Enjoy breakfast at the homestay and you are at leisure until it transferring to the airport.
