Our top tips on getting the best out of Halong Bay
- Climb up the top of the island with the tiny beach to a small shrine. The views are to die for and well work the walk.
- Go kayaking, there is no better way to explore the lagoons and caves.
- Be adventurous and jump off the top deck of your junk (no, we didn’t really say that)
- Keep an eye on your valuables at the port, pick pockets work in the area.
- Don’t forget your passport as otherwise you cannot stay overnight on a junk
Weather in Halong Bay
- May – October is hot and wet but it very rarely rains all day every day
- September is typhoon season so some days boats are cancelled
- November – April is dry and pleasant although temperatures can get quite cold in December and January.
