Voluntourism

Imagine seeing the highlights of Vietnam’s mountainous hill-tribe region, while helping disadvantaged communities build a school. Or teaching English to orphans; or volunteering in an endangered animal centre. If you want to make a difference in conservation and community project in disadvantaged areas, then community project holidays are for you! You may volunteer as an individual, or to make a greater impact, gather your friends from a sporting club, school or work place and start raising money to fund your own development project. This may include building infrastructure in a disadvantaged community, or building a playground for an orphanage or installing electricity & toilets in a school. The opportunities are endless and the rewards are immeasurable.

Volunteer Projects

For an alternative holiday why not combine some site seeing with some volunteering? Vietnam is an ideal place to not only have a great holiday, but also contribute to the local community. Volunteer projects include teaching English, organic gardening, caring for children in an orphanage, refurbishing schools in poor communities and many more depending on your skills or level of interest. Skills such as teaching, (although you can teach without qualifications) or medical or physiotherapy are highly valued. The hours of work will vary depending upon the type of work chosen, with a typical day including 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon with weekends free. Depending on your interests you may like to involve the local community in arts and crafts, singing or dancing just to name a few other options.
