This excursion from Hanoi visits some of the fascinating handicraft villages dotted around the lush countryside surrounding the capital. You will witness the ancient art of ceramic making, how lacquered bamboo products are made and beautiful Mother of Pearl.  This day trip is perfect for those interested in traditional artifacts and also a great opportunity to buy souvenirs.

We leave Hanoi at 8.30am and drive to Bat Trang where we can see firsthand the ancient art of ceramic making at a workshop. Many of the families producing these fine works of art have been doing so for at least 400 years. From Bat Trang we return to Hanoi and head south to the village of Duyen Thai, which specializes in making lacquered bamboo products. Nereby is Bang So village, which produces bamboo and rattan goods. We then find a shady place to enjoy our picnic lunch.

Following lunch we head to the silk village of Van Phuc where the most famous Vietnamese silk is made. We have a  chance to explore this ancient village and purchase some silk should we wish. We return to Hanoi at about 5pm.

Joining instructions:
