No longer are Cambodia and Laos just for the intrepid traveler–the sophisticated range of hotels and tourist infrastructure means these countries can accommodate all styles of travel. This 8-day itinerary is easily accessible via daily flights from Bangkok and is a magical way to discover the essence of Indochina, including historic Phnom Penh, the incredible temples and lesser-known sites around Angkor and Siem Reap, and charming, deeply-spiritual Luang Prabang.

Day 1:  Phnom Penh
Arrive in the bustling and energetic capital city of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, and check into your hotel, before setting out on a city tour to visit the National Museum and Royal Palace built in 1866 by King Norodom.

Day 2:  Phnom Penh – Siem Reap
Fly to Siem Reap, the gateway to the Angkor temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the mysterious royal city, Angkor Thom, and visit the intricately-carved and awe-inspiring Khmer ruins at Angkor Wat--one of the world’s most impressive ruins. Watch the sunset over the jungle from the ruins of an ancient temple.

Day 3:  Angkor Complex
Continue exploring the incredible temples, including some that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and still remain overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene.

Day 4:  Siem Reap – Vientiane
Fly to laidback Vientiane, the City of the Moon. Spend the afternoon visiting the major historic sites and enjoying the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the city. You see why many consider this the most welcoming capital city in the world.

Day 5:  Vientiane – Luang Prabang
Fly to the charming city of Luang Prabang. Nestled in a stunning setting amid lush mountains, this sacred city of golden temples and saffron robed monks provides endless opportunities for sightseeing.

Day 6:  Pak Ou Caves
Cruise on a long boat on the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, extending deep into the side of a limestone cliff and filled with hundreds of statues of Buddha. Dine on local fish and sticky rice at a riverside restaurant before returning to Luang Prabang.

Day 7:  Kuang Si Waterfall
Take an excursion to the beautiful Kuang Sii waterfall, where lush greenery surrounds clear turquoise pools. En route, stop to visit small traditional villages that are home to the H’mong and  Khmu ethnic minority groups. A picnic lunch at the waterfall is included.

Day 8:  Depart Luang Prabang
After breakfast, visit a local market to purchase some souvenirs before transferring to the airport for your departure flight.

Customer Feedback
This was our first time using Buffalo Tours, and we are very impressed with the service we received.  Everything was well organised, yet flexible enough to cater to our needs.  All the tour guides and drivers were first class.  We have been to many cities in Europe, Japan and Asia, but have never encountered such impeccable, hospitable and thoughtful tour staff.
