Start out your Thailand adventure with a freewheeling tour through the heart of Bangkok, unveiling the ‘real Thailand’ few visitors get to experience when visiting this city. Leave the urban surrounds behind and cycle into the countryside to ancient Siam and the ruins of Ayuthaya, before a train journey into the ‘forgotten land’ of Isan where you will be welcomed into the heart of the rural communities around Khong Jiam and stay on the banks of the mighty Mekong River. End your trip with a kayaking adventure in beautiful Phang Nga Bay exploring reefs and marine wildlife and relaxing on Koh Yai Noi Island.
Day 1: Bangkok Upon arrival our guide will accompany you to your hotel.
Day 2: Bangkok Visit some of the most important sites in the Kingdom, including the Grand Palace & Hall of the Emerald Buddha. Following an afternoon siesta join your guide for several hours’ easy riding and urban exploration on mountain bikes. Ride down back alleys, alongside canals, and through neighbourhoods foreigners never visit, as well as major landmarks, enjoying dinner en route.
Day 3: Bangkok – Ayuthaya – Ubon Ratchathani Join your guide for a bike ride from urban to rural surrounds, en route to the ancient capital of Ayuthaya. This is a leisurely ride with many stops en route, designed to make the most of the freedom of movement and access two wheels allow. Freshen up at a local hotel and refuel with an early dinner before taking the night train to Ubon Ratchathani.
Day 4: Ubon Ratchathani – Khong JiamUpon arrival into Ubon visit two noteworthy historical sites in town before transferring to the tiny town of Khong Jiam. Stop en route in a village that exclusively produces gongs & large bells for temples and appreciate the artisans’ handiwork. Check into a delightful resort overlooking the Mekong River; our base of explorations over the next few days. Go kayaking or cycling to explore the nearby area or relax at leisure.
