A unique overnight tour that includes a visit to the famous Angkor Wat and accommodation in a local monastery. Meet the resident monks, learn about Buddhist philosophy and monastic life and rise early to the sound of drums for a half day of meditation practice. A truly spiritual experience.

Day 1: Siem Reap, Angkor Complex & Monastery

After breakfast, you’ll explore the magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat. Our guide will focus on explaining the Hindu and Buddhist influences on this impressive temple and on the spectacular Bayon, our second stop. The Bayon encloses 54 towers decorated with more than 200 enigmatically smiling stone faces. After an early lunch, you’ll visit a local monastery and meet with the monks. In the afternoon, you’ll learn about Buddhist philosophy and monastic life. Stay overnight in the monastery.

Note: The monks have their last meal at 11AM. No dinner is planned for the evening; Buffalo Tours will however prepare snacks and fruits.

Day 2: Siem Reap Monastery

At 4 am, the monastery drums announce the beginning of the monks’ day. Rise and join them at their prayers. After breakfast, you’ll be given a short introduction to meditation, followed by a half-day practice in the monastery. It’s a spiritual experience you’ll never forget. Transfer back to your hotel, free at leisure.

Customer Feedback

I just wanted to thank you for all your invaluable help in designing, arranging and booking the tour for my colleagues Radhika Lalla and Hashim Badani. They had a wonderful tour which in a large part was due to your help. I want to especially thank you for the getting visas at the last minute - at a time when most of the country was on vacation.
