ITINERARY

DAY 1

Kowloon and the New Territories

DAY 1 - Kowloon and the New Territories

Departing in the morning, make your first stop at the bustling Tai Po New Market, located in the bustling area of Kowloon. Wander around this maze of stalls stocking food, clothing and plants before continuing on to the fortified village of Tsang Tai Uk.

Built in the 1840s, this ancient walled village, literally translated to mean “Tsang’s Big House”, was erected by one of Hong Kong’s most powerful ruling clans, the Tsang. Wander around its high walls and discover its hidden passages, family dwellings and ancestral hall.

Afterwards, head to the Wong Tai Shin Temple, which attracts more than three million pilgrims every year. A stunning example of traditional Chinese architecture, thousands of worshippers flock to its halls every day to light incense and pray for good luck – in addition to visiting the temple’s many fortune tellers.

Conclude the tour with a visit to a traditional art workshop to get a glimpse of skilled artisans at work.
