ITINERARY

DAY 1

Museum of Vintage Bags & Upcycle Workshop

DAY 1 - Museum of Vintage Bags & Upcycle Workshop

Get picked up from the hotel and transfer to Sanur, a laidback little town nestled on a sun-drenched stretch of picturesque beach. Arrive at the headquarters of ‘Strange but Cool’, a start-up fashion brand owned and operated by entrepreneur and designer, Tina Lim. Inside, find a store selling chic fashions created in Strange but Cool’s own design atelier and in the back, the incredible Museum of Vintage Bags. After an informative introduction about the museum and its history, browse the incredible collection of more than 450 different pieces at a leisurely pace.

Purses, totes, and clutches dating from the 1920’s to the 1990’s showcase the major, and lesser-known artistic influences of those periods. While perusing the daintily hung bags that line the colourful walls and tables in funky displays, get a firsthand look at design themes such as art deco, pop art, bohemian, and minimalist, just to name a few.

Next, meet Tina herself for an informative talk on fashion, her obsession with vintage bags, and her impressive history as a businesswoman and designer. She will explain several pieces from her collection, bringing history to life through the classic stories of her bags.

Take a break to enjoy a variety of traditional Balinese sweets and fresh coconut juice before taking part in a handicraft workshop focused on minimising single-use plastic. Using common household items, learn how to ‘upcycle’ plastic bottles and other containers into unique artistic creations. This workshop provides a great opportunity to utilise the fashion knowledge gained at the museum to make unique and sustainable pieces which can be taken home to show friends and family.

Once everyone has crafted to their heart’s content, say goodbye to Tina and her team and return to the hotel via vehicle transfer.
