From Tokyo, set off on a day’s journey to explore Asakusa, a popular site outside of the city that retains an old-world charm, free from high rise buildings. Begin the day with a wander down Nakamise Street for a glimpse at one of Tokyo’s oldest shopping arcades in action.

From here arrive at Senso-ji Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, and then onward to Dempoin Street, a stunning architectural example of the Edo period.
