DAY 1 - Kiau Village

Experience what it means to truly ‘get away from it all’ in this unique trip that spans two days and one night. The impossibly picturesque, guided journey to the remote Kiau Village will take in lush, verdant greenery, mountainous terrain and endless blue skies. Upon arrival, have the chance to look around this secluded village, which is located at the foot of the majestic Mount Kinabalu, before joining a host family for a delicious, traditional and locally prepared lunch. Once sated, visit a pineapple farm and taste the mouth-wateringly sweet fruit in its freshest form. From here, begin a peaceful, two-hour jungle trek in search of wild herbs and learn the benefits of each from the knowledgeable local guide. Gather locally grown vegetables from nearby farms and take them back to the homestay before joining the locals for the therapeutic pastime of basket weaving and beading.

As the evening draws in, enjoy the spectacle of cooking the Dusun way before a mouth-watering meal of locally grown and sourced food. After dinner, the fun really begins! Enjoy the energy of village life with distinctive bamboo music and gong performances complete with local traditional dances performed by the villagers. Have the chance to join in the merriment and learn the skills of the Sumazau dance. Inspired by eagles flying patterns as witnessed by farmers, this dance is unique, distinct and lots of fun.

DAY 2 - Kota Kinabalu

After a delicious breakfast, visit the fascinating Skull Sanctuary and take in dozens of centuries-old human skulls, believed to be remnants of the headhunting era before bidding farewell to the hosts and returning to modern-day life in Kota Kinabalu.
