DAY 1

Mystique Mount Alab Trekking

DAY 1 - Mystique Mount Alab Trekking

Wake up early and depart from Kota Kinabalu to Mount Alab, the highest peak in the Crocker Range National Park. Upon arrival, follow a short safety briefing before setting off along the 12-kilometre Minduk Sirung Trail. The picturesque trek leads through pristine primary rainforest, from mossy forest to tropical jungle, and is home to a large diversity of plants. Venture into the rugged terrains and conquer the steep ascents, whilst soaking up the tranquillity of Borneo’s untouched wild, away from civilisation and tourists.

After about six kilometres, arrive at the Minduk Sirung Peak at 2,080 metres and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Try spotting Mount Kinbalu to the north and take a short rest, refuelling with a well-deserved lunch before starting the descent. Along the way, look out for wild orchids, carnivorous Nepenthes (pitcher plants) and the wonderful Rafflesia – the world’s largest flower. Finish the trek at the stunning Mahua Waterfall and cool tired legs with a plunge into the refreshing waters before returning to Kota Kinabalu.
