ITINERARY

DAY 1

Cooking at Inle Heritage

DAY 1 - Cooking at Inle Heritage

Morning pick-up from the hotel after which guests will take a tour around Inn Paw Khon village by boat. Generations of families have lived in these Inle Heritage homes that are built on wooden stilts above the water; many of these homes were built over one hundred years ago.

After arriving at the village, a friendly guide will introduce the Inle Heritage foundation and vocational centre, which hosts programs to help the local community learn about agricultural conservation and sustainability in this region. A skilled local chef will introduce the class to the menu and the seasonal ingredients to be used, some of which can only be found around Inle Lake. These special ingredients give Intha cuisine from the Shan State region its unique flavour, which is well-known throughout Myanmar.

Students will then have time to harvest their own ingredients from an organic garden in preparation for lunch. The garden not only provides fresh vegetables and herbs for use in the cooking classroom, it also feeds the community and educates them about better farming practices.

When ready, the chef will guide the class step-by-step through the entire cooking process. Whether a complete beginner or cooking enthusiast, this cooking class is suitable for all levels of experience. A simple traditional dessert will also be made after lunch has been cooked. Once cooking has finished, guests are given plenty of time to enjoy their lunch at a leisurely pace.

There are many opportunities to take pictures, enjoy the company of the beautiful Burmese cats that lounge around, and see some of the silk weaving that Inn Paw Khon is well-known for.

With a full belly, it’s time to say goodbye to the people of Inn Paw Khon and board a boat to return to the hotel.
