DAY 1

A Taste of Chinatown’s Food and Culture

DAY 1 - A Taste of Chinatown’s Food and Culture

From Sam Yan MRT Station, embark on a cultural journey with a visit to Wat Hua Lamphong. Learn about the ancient beliefs of Buddhist culture at this authentic Royal temple and engage in the deep-rooted tradition of ‘making merit’ by donating money for coffins.

Next, hop onto the MRT, before taking a short 5-minute stroll towards Yaowarat Road – the sprawling heartbeat of Bangkok’s Chinatown. Immerse in the electrifying atmosphere of this vibrant neighbourhood, bursting with exotic smells, sights and sounds. Discover the rich history of this district, where Chinese migrants settled centuries ago, influencing local customs, culture and, most importantly, food.

No trip to Chinatown is complete without diving into the myriad of flavours at the food stalls and eateries that take over the pavement when the sun goes down. Explore this world-renowned foodie haven and indulge in delectable dim sum appetizers at The Canton House; dig into a flavourful bowl of Chinese noodle soup; and treat yourself to a scoop of tangy black soy sauce ice cream, before finishing with a plate of the famous mango sticky rice.

Full and content, it’s time to sit back and relax with a refreshing and well-deserved drink at Tep Bar. Tucked away on one of the city’s hippest nightlife streets, this unique new wave bar is the perfect place to enjoy traditional live music from Central Thailand, whilst letting the colourful experiences of the evening sink in with every sip. End this cultural foodie tour with a short walk back to Hua Lamphong MRT Station, from where the underground, taxi or tuk-tuk can provide transport back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.
