DAY 1 - Discover Samui

Be picked up from the hotel and head to Hua Thanon. Hear about the village’s interesting history and its multi-cultural community of Chinese Buddhist and Muslim. Get a glimpse of everyday life on the island and visit at local wet market where islanders do their food shopping. Peruse the fresh produce on offer, ranging from colourful fruit and vegetables to meat and seafood, and take in the vibrant sights, smells and scenes. Continue to explore the small community; stop by small shops to find homemade curry and fish pastes and visit the local mosque.

Next, head to a coconut plantation and chat to the local farmers to find out everything there is to know about this universal fruit – from harvesting and opening to utilising its different parts. Continue this island exploration and travel to the peaceful Hin Lad Waterfall. Enjoy a breezy hike into the jungle and revel in the sights and sounds of the falls.

End the day at Wat Plai Laem, a Buddhist temple located on the north-east coast of the island. Upon arrival, be wowed by two gigantic Chinese statues – Guanyin, the 18-armed Goddess of Mercy, and a fat, laughing Buddha. Explore the colourful structure of the temple and notice the blend of Thai and Chinese architectural styles, before returning to the hotel.
